How to Program a Ford Key Fob

Ford Key Fob Programming Directions

Follow these Ford key fob programming directions if you wish to remotely lock and unlock your car. Some Ford key fobs even provide remote start.

  1. Ensure that all car doors are shut. Then, open the driver-side door, pressing the UNLOCK button on this door.
  2. Turn the key in the ignition OFF to RUN very quickly eight times. Complete this task within 10 seconds, ending on RUN.
  3. If successful, your door locks will cycle between lock and unlock. If unsuccessful, however, you will need to try again, turning the key faster.
  4. Take the Ford key fob you wish to program and press any button. You must do this within eight seconds of entering the cycle mode. The door locks will cycle again, confirming the key fob is programmed and ready to use.

Do you have another Ford key fob to program? You will need to follow the same instructions as above, pressing any button on the remote within eight seconds. This can be repeated as many times as needed. Turn the key in the ignition to the off position when you’re done.

How to Program Ford MyKey

Do you specifically have a Ford MyKey that you wish to program? Follow these steps:

  1. Use the key you wish to program to turn on the car.
  2. Using your touchscreen interface, access the Main Menu and go to Settings.
  3. Select the MyKey option, followed by the Create MyKey option.
  4. Press OK to register this key as a MyKey.
  5. Adjust MyKey restrictions as desired under the MyKey menu, selecting the features you wish to change.

Once programmed, the new Ford MyKey will be restricted by speed limits, volume settings, and more every time it is in use in the car.
