How to Clean Rubber Floor Mats
If you have rubber floor mats, gather the following supplies:
- Hose or bucket of water
- Rubber floor mat cleanser
- Vacuum
- Stiff bristle brush
- Microfiber towel (or instead, a place to hang your mats)
Now, use these tips on how to clean rubber floor mats:
- Remove the rubber floor mats from your vehicle. That way, as you go through the cleaning process, you will avoid damaging other aspects of the interior.
- Shake the mats to get rid of loose debris.
- Rinse the mats with water from your hose or bucket.
- Using the stiff bristle brush, scrub rubber floor mat cleanser onto the mats. This should help to remove any other grime and debris.
- Rinse the mats again.
- Use the microfiber towel or hang them to dry. Remember to allow them to dry completely before returning them to your vehicle.
How to Clean Carpet Floor Mats
For carpet floor mats, collect the following supplies before you begin:
- Hose or bucket of water
- Carpet floor mat cleanser
- Vacuum
- Brush
- Wet vac, if available (or instead, a place to hang your mats)
Clean your carpet floor mats by taking these steps:
- Remove the carpet floor mats from your vehicle to prevent water damage to your vehicle’s upholstery and interior electrical components.
- Vacuum the mats thoroughly to remove dirt, and shake them afterward to remove other loose particles.
- Follow the carpet floor mat cleanser application instructions, and then scrub your floor mats using your brush to get rid of stains.
- Rinse the mats to remove cleanser residue.
- Use a wet vac if you have one handy to remove any leftover dirt and begin the drying process.
- Hand your mats to dry.. Remember to allow them to dry completely before returning them to your vehicle.
